American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) works with the Ministry of Education in Taiwan (MOE) to provide U.S. citizens with Future Educator Scholarship to develop American Mandarin Chinese teachers.
The total slots of this scholarship are up to 20. It includes one-year Huayu Enrichment Scholarship for Mandarin Chinese learning in Taiwan followed a four-year Taiwan Scholarship for pursuing bachelor’s degree or followed a two-year scholarship for master’s degree on Mandarin Chinese teaching in Taiwan.

📘 5-year Scholarship:
- 1-year Huayu Enrichment Scholarship with monthly stipend of NT$28,000 (about US$900)
- 4-year Taiwan Scholarship with monthly stipend of NT$15,000 (about US$500) and waiver of tuition fees up to NT$40,000 (about US$1,330) for a bachelor’s degree program
📗 3-year Scholarship:
- 1-year Huayu Enrichment Scholarship with monthly stipend of NT$28,000 (about US$900)
- 2-year Taiwan Scholarship with monthly stipend of NT$20,000 (about US$660) and waiver of tuition fees up to NT$40,000 (about US$1,330) for a master’s degree program
📅 Application Period: February 1, 2026 to March 31, 2026
✅ Eligibility:
1. Be a U.S. citizen.
2. Be a high school graduate or above, have excellent academic performance in his/her most recent formal educational study experience, be of good moral character, and not have any criminal records.
3. Be an ACTFL member
4. Graduates from colleges of education are preferred.
❌ A person in any of the following categories is ineligible to apply:
1. An R.O.C. national or an overseas Chinese student.
2. A person who already has registered and/or is continuing to maintain student status at any university/college in Taiwan.
3. An exchange student or dual/joint degree student who has been admitted to a university/college in Taiwan in accordance with an academic cooperation agreement between that university/college and an overseas university/college.
4. A person who has ever previously had their Taiwan Scholarship or MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship revoked.
5. A person who has received any other scholarship or subsidy from any Taiwan government institution (organization) or any education institution in Taiwan.
6. A person who has a Taiwan Alien Permanent Resident Certificate.
