Application Procedures

※ Please upload the following application materials via our on-line application system before deadline (Taiwan time). Late submission will not be accepted.


1. The application form


2. One original transcript of the highest academic degree diploma, verified with official

stamps by the R.O.C. (Taiwan) Overseas Representative Office in the country of

his/her original school. (One notarized copy of a translation in English or Chinese is

necessary if the original diploma is not in Chinese or English.) Undergraduate

program applicants: High school diploma (or above); Master’s program applicants:

Bachelor’s degree diploma (or above); Ph.D. program applicants: Master’s degree

diploma (or above).


※ Graduating students may submit an official proof of current education as a tentative substitute at the time of application, but they must present the official diploma at the time of registration.


(1)  Academic credentials from Mainland China: The Regulations Governing the Accreditation of Schools in Mainland China shall apply.

(2)  Academic credentials from Hong Kong or Macao: Academic Credential Verification and Accreditation Methods adopted in Hong Kong and Macao shall apply.

(3)  Academic credentials from other areas: Academic credentials earned at overseas Taiwan schools or Taiwan schools in Mainland China shall be regarded as the same as those at domestic schools with equivalent levels. Academic credentials referred in the preceding 2 subparagraphs shall be subject to the Regulations Regarding the Assessment and Recognition of Foreign Academic Credentials for Institutions of Higher Education. However, academic credentials earned from schools or branches established in Mainland China by foreign schools shall require public notarization in Mainland China and be verified and examined by an institute established or appointed by, or through a private agency commissioned by the Executive Yuan.


3. One original official transcript of the highest academic degree, verified with official

stamps by the R.O.C. (Taiwan) Overseas Representative Office in the country of his/her original school. (The notarized copy of a translation in English or Chinese is necessary if the original transcript is not in Chinese or English.) Undergraduate program applicants: High school transcript (or above) by year ; Master’s program applicants: Bachelor’s degree transcript (or above) by year; Ph.D. program applicants: Master’s and Bachelor’s degree transcripts (or above) by year.


※ For applicants whose high school graduating level is only equivalent to Taiwan's high school second grade, once admitted, at least 12 credits at NTTU in addition to each department's credit requirements are required before graduation.

7. Chinese proficiency certificate or English proficiency certificate

The criterion for International student scholarship is Chinese language proficiency.

Please provide an official language test certificate.


  • EMI: Applicants should provide an English proficiency certificate (higher than or equivalent to CEFR B1). Native English speakers are excluded.
  • Non-EMI: Applicants should provide a Mandarin proficiency certificate (higher than or equivalent to TOCFL A2).


8. A financial statement: Please select one of the following methods of proof 

◎ A bank deposit statement of at least NTD$90,000 (~US$3,000) and above must

be provided, showing sufficient financial support for the applicant’s entire stay during the time of the study. The statement must be on the financial institution's

official letterhead and mailed to NTTU.

◎ If the financial statement is in the name of someone other than the applicant, the person must also provide a sponsor’s letter declaring the intent to provide financial support throughout his/her period of study.

◎ Proof of scholarship.

◎ If the currency of the bank statement is in neither NT dollars nor US dollars, applicants themselves shall convert the total amount and write down the exchange rate on the bank statement.

※ In addition to the on-line application, paper format application materials are also acceptable and please send before deadline via registered mail to: Center of International Affairs Office of Research and Development National Taitung University 369, Sec.2, University Rd., Taitung 95092, Taiwan, R.O.C.

※ Application package must be postmarked before the deadline of the application submission.
