The funding will provide increased financial support for research on Taiwan by undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard.

In addition, the initiative will help support the Fairbank Center’s Hou Family Fellows in Taiwan Studies, events and seminars about Taiwan, and publications of books related to Taiwan.

The initiative will launch in August 2021.

6. Project Results/Expected Results

One will be for a post-doctoral scholar who recently graduated from or who is currently teaching/researching at a North American institution, and one will be for a pre-doctoral scholar.

Project funds will support stipends for these students.

Travel Grants for Harvard Students: each year up to six Harvard students will receive funding to travel to Taiwan to study or to conduct research.
