Ministry of Education (MOE) Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES)
Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO)
Preface:
The Ministry of Education (MOE) in the Republic of China (Taiwan) provides the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) for foreign Mandarin/Chinese learners including beginners to study at any accredited Mandarin center in a university or college in Taiwan.
Award Value:
A fixed monthly stipend of NT$25,000 with no other stipend.
(Exchange rate of 1/23/2019: 1 US = 30.87 NT)
Duration of Scholarships:
2 months (June to July or July to August, 2019), or 3, 6, 9, 12 months from September, 2019, to August, 2020.
Eligibility:
1. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, above the age of 18.
2. Those whose official residency is in “Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia” should apply to Education Division of TECRO (4201 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016).
3. Residents in other states please check the website of MOE in Taiwan to find the Education Divisions in the U.S. where you may apply.
