2024 TOCFL and CCCC for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia Area Start Registration
2024 Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) and Children’s Chinese Competency Certification (CCCC) for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia area (DMV area) will be held in Wei Hwa Chinese School and Washington DC Taiwanese School on April 14 and 28 respectively.
The TOCFL has four proficiency bands: Band Novice, Band A, Band B, and Band C. Each of the bands has two sub levels. The CCCC, which is designed for non-native Chinese-speaking children from age 7 to 12, includes three levels: Beginner (Sprouting), Intermediate (Seedling), and Advanced (Blossoming). Examinees who pass the test will receive a Chinese Proficiency Certificate as a credential for the following:
- Becoming eligible for the “Taiwan Scholarship” and “Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship” sponsored by the government and for studying in Taiwan.
- Qualifying for admission to academic programs at colleges or universities in Taiwan.
- Serving as verification of Chinese language proficiency for employers.
- Providing an incentive to those who are interested in learning Chinese.
The CCCC and Band Novice have a test fee of $30. The Bands A, B and C have a test fee of $40.
