An information session for 2022 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) recipients was held on May 3rd, 2022 by the Director of the Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Boston, Ms. Cynthia Huang. Director Huang invited 6 recipients of the 2022 HES to the information session as their 2-month summer study in Taiwan will start soon.
In this regard, Director Huang worked closely with the Visa Division to expedite the visa application of the recipients and all received their visa on site at same day.
The recipients were issued their Award Certificates of the 2022 HES. During the session, Ms. Huang mentioned that employment in Taiwan while receiving the scholarship is forbidden for HES recipients. The proven participation in a required health insurance before the trip to Taiwan was brought to the recipients’ awareness. She also reminded them that it is crucial to request the mobile phone carrier to unlock their mobile phones to use a Taiwanese sim card when arrive in Taiwan, which is now required as a countermeasure to the COVID-19 pandemic by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control.
The recipients joined Director Huang for lunch and had a good time playing table football afterwards. Then the Director-General Jonathan Sun of TECO addressed the recipients. He encouraged the recipients to hone their Mandarin language skills and also experience the life, society and culture in Taiwan.
The Education Division bade farewell with a gift set of stationery and gadgets for their study and travel to Taiwan. Bon voyage to the first group of 2022 HES recipients!
