The Education Division of TECO Boston celebrated the Taiwan Teachers Day with New England Mandarin Teachers of all grades 友善列印

Education Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Boston, representing the Ministry of Education(MOE) of Republic of China (Taiwan) in New England has restored the Taiwan Teachers Day celebration in the region this year.  On September 24th, 2022, Education Division Director Cynthia Huang invited a group of Mandarin teachers and school administrators to the banquet.  


The group consists of an Academician Sinica, Dr. James Huang who teaches linguistic in Harvard University, Mr. Po-Wei Weng, an Assistant head of Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Mandarin teachers from universities and K-12 (Kindergarten to 12th grades) schools and Mandarin teachers and teaching assistants from Taiwan who came to New England through programs subsidized by MOE or Fulbright exchange program for Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA).


Director Cynthia Huang expressed appreciation on behalf of MOE to teachers in the banquet, for their devotion to high quality Mandarin education in the U.S. and support for students learning Mandarin from Kindergarten, Elementary and High schools to Universities in the region.  She has also taken this opportunity to introduce to them MOE programs including the “Taiwan Huayu BEST” project, K-12 school collaboration/partnering programs, the International Exchange Window (IEW) and Taiwan’s goal of becoming 100% bilingual in English/Mandarin by 2030. 


Director Huang encouraged teachers to network with each other and to work together with the Education Division of TECO-Boston to promote Mandarin teaching. The teachers present responded enthusiastically, and were eager to learn more details about the various programs and exchange their experiences.
