FAQs

1. I am not a Filipino citizen; can I apply for these scholarships?

All three scholarship programs (MOE, ICDF, and Huayu) are only open to Filipino citizens. Applicants of other nationalities may contact the TECO office in their country of residence for available scholarship opportunities.

 

2. Does TECO offer bachelor degree scholarship programs?

  • MOE Scholarship: Available for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programs.

  • ICDF Scholarship: Only available for master’s and PhD programs.

 

3. Is there an age requirement?

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.

 

4. Do I have to be a college graduate before I can apply?

  • MOE Scholarship:

    • Bachelor’s applicants: must have completed senior high school

    • Master’s and PhD applicants: must have completed the previous degree level

  • Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship: Applicants must be at least secondary school graduates

 

5. Can I apply for more than 1 scholarship program?

Applicants may apply for both MOE and ICDF degree scholarships if they meet the requirements. However, they cannot apply for a Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship and a degree program scholarship at the same time.

 

6. Can I apply to any program and university under the scholarship?

  • ICDF Scholarship: Applicants may apply only to selected partner programs and universities.

  • MOE Scholarship: Applicants are free to apply to any English-tuaght program and accredited university in Taiwan.

 

7. I haven’t decided where to apply yet. Where can I find information on universities in Taiwan?

Applicants can visit the official “Study in Taiwan” portal: www.studyintaiwan.org

 

8. When can I apply for the scholarship programs offered by TECO?

Applications are held annually:

a. ICDF Scholarship: January 1 to March 15

b. MOE Scholarship: February 1 to April 30

c. Huayu Enrichment Scholarship: February 1 to April 30

 

9.How can I authenticate my documents?

For information on document authentication, visit the TECO Philippines website: https://www.roc-taiwan.org/ph. 

Note: Make sure that all diplomas or transcripts are accompanied by an English translation

 

10. Can I submit my documents online or via email?

  • ICDF Scholarship: Applications and documents are submitted online through the official ICDF portal.

  • MOE Scholarship and Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship: Documents must be submitted in hard copy. Submissions through an authorized representative or courier are allowed, but express delivery services (e.g., Grab, Lalamove) are not permitted.

 

11. Can I submit a TOEFL or IELTS certificate in place of the “English as Medium of Instruction” certificate?

Yes, our office can accept a valid TOEFL or IELTS certificate in place of the “English as Medium of Instruction” certificate. TOEIC and other online English exams are not accepted.

 

12. My chosen program is not completely taught in English. Can I still apply for this program?

Yes, you may apply. However, students admitted to programs not entirely taught in English are required to submit the TOCFL (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) A2 Certificate.
