The Chinese Language Club at the University of Oklahoma held a Mid-Autumn Festival Workshop on Sep. 8, 2022, for students to learn and experience Mid-Autumn Festival customs and activities.
Chinese instructor Mr. Peter (Chun Sheng) Su gave a presentation on the Mid-Autumn Festival's origins and traditions, including three well-known legends (Chang E, Wu Gang, and Jade Rabbit) about Moon Festival, Moon Cakes, and Chinese phrases for the Moon Festival. Afterward, students tasted the homemade Moon with teas and made Moon Festival Lanterns. Around 50 students and faculty attended this workshop, and they enjoyed the activity as this was the first face-to-face Chinese cultural activity after the pandemic from 2020. The Chinese Language Club plans to host other Chinese cultural activities and invite more students to experience Chinese culture this semester.
