FAQs

1. I am not a Filipino citizen; can I apply for these scholarships?

All three scholarship programs are only intended for Filipino citizens. For other nationalities, they may check the TECO office in their respective residences.


2. Does TECO offer bachelor degree scholarship programs?

The MOE scholarship is open to those who would like to apply for undergraduate, master's, and PhD programs. The ICDF scholarship is only open to master's and PhD applicants.


3. Is there an age requirement?


Applicants must only be at least 18 years old upon application.


4. Do I have to be a college graduate before I can apply?

Under the MOE scholarship program, applicants of bachelor's degrees must be graduates of senior high school, applicants for the master's and PhD degrees should have finished a college degree. For Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Program, applicants should be at least secondary education graduates.


5. Can I apply for more than 1 scholarship program?

Applicants are only allowed to apply for one scholarship program at a time.


6. Can I apply to any program and university under the scholarship?

Under the ICDF scholarship, applicants can only apply for selected programs and university. For those interested in applying for the MOE scholarship, you are free to choose any program and university.


7. I haven’t decided where to apply yet. Where can I find information on universities in Taiwan?


Interested applicants can visit the 'Study in Taiwan' website through www.studyintaiwan.org


8. When can I apply for the scholarship programs offered by TECO?

Applications are held annually:

a. ICDF Scholarship: January 1 to March 15

b. MOE Scholarship: February 1 to April 30

c. Huayu Enrichment Scholarship: February 1 to March 31


9.How can I authenticate my documents?


For information on TECO authentication, you can visit our website through https://www.roc-taiwan.org/ph. Please make sure that your diploma has an English translation.


10. Can I submit my documents online or via email?

Documents must be sent in hard copies. Submissions via an authorized representative or couriers are allowed (express delivery services are not allowed, i.e Grab, Lalamove, Mr. Speedy).


11. Can I submit a TOEFL or IELTS certificate in place of the “English as Medium of Instruction” certificate?


Yes, our office can accept a valid TOEFL or IELTS certificate in place of the “English as Medium of Instruction” certificate. TOEIC and other online English exams are not accepted.


12. My chosen program is not completely taught in English. Can I still apply for this program?

Yes, however, students who will apply for programs not completely taught in English may be required to take the TOCFL Exam after their first semester.
